The much-awaited remaster by Shin Megumi Tensei (SMT) fans is finally here as Shin Megumi Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster has been released just recently (May 2021). Fans are still waiting for the Sin Megumi Tensei V but having the remaster of Shin Megumi Tensei III definitely hyped everyone for what's in store for them in the future.

Shin Megumi Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remaster has been one of the popular and for me, a well-written one from the SMT series. The twist and turns of what's about to come are what definitely captured my attention and I've been binge playing the game since its release.

Shin Megumi Tensei II: Nocturne HD Remaster follows the story of you, the player, a high school student who got caught up in "Conception," an apocalyptic event where the cult's aim is to reboot the world. After some circumstances, you ended up being reborn as a half-human half-demon. Your quest is to know what has been happening, gather party members to fight against demons, and save the remaining humans if possible.

The Gameplay

SMT 3's ending highly depends on how you'll interact with the characters and scenarios throughout the game. Fighting scenes are the same format as the previous game to which you'll choose to attack once it is your turn. You can invite other characters to your party as well, as same as from the Pokemon game.

Has the game been untouched in terms of the story? Why yes. The plot that has been enjoyed by SMT fans remains the same with a pinch of new features on the gameplay, especially on the battle mode.

The Graphics

Sure thing that SMT fans will notice about the game is the improved graphics and in my personal opinion, it didn't disappoint. Characters, or just the game as a whole, gave a clean feeling, smooth rendering, and noticeable lighting as well. You might ask if the game is in our usual 16:9 ratio but please expect that there are still 4:3 ratios on some of the cutscenes.

Sound and Language

I played the game using Japanese dub with English subtitles and I am delighted that the audio quality has been clean as well. Noticeable improvement on the English localization has been made as well and what surprised me the most are the subtitle languages available. It has French, German, Italian, Spanish subtitles with Japanese and English for voice-over.
