My Matcha Experience at Kissako Uji Matcha Café

I am definitely a sucker for anything Matcha - from lattes, cakes, ice cream and other desserts. My love for this kind of Green tea variety from Japan has been long enough to make me a hunter for cafes and restaurants here at Manila to try and taste if they have the authentic Matcha flavor that I ever wanted. One time, I decided to go at Kissako Uji Matcha Café (because I’ve been hearing it from other people that they have very authentic Matcha-flavored desserts) alone and yes – I definitely didn’t regret going there. It really is the best Matcha place in town!

Kissako Uji Matcha Café is located at Pioneer Street at Kapitolyo, Pasig City. It’s just a small, cozy café which I guess can accommodate not more than 20-30 people inside. But don’t get fooled about their simple appearance. What makes them a famous place was their Matcha desserts. Because they are very proud to tell to everyone that their Matcha ingredients are imported from Japan, the curiosity inside me grew more. So from my place at Bulacan, I decided to go to this place alone to try some of their desserts.

I ordered their Matcha Shortcake and Hot Matcha Latte. I am delighted to see that my Hot Matcha Latte has a bear latte art (makes me don’t want to drink it because it’s actually a perfect instagrammable drink!). I tasted the latte and it’s really delicious!

I tried the Matcha Shortcake next. I love how the layers of the cake were visible and not messy. Though the flavor of the red bean paste is stronger than the Matcha-flavor itself, I still like it because the cake is not too sweet.

You can indeed taste the authentic Matcha-flavor just with these two sweets I ordered. What more if I tried their other sweets? And I also saw that they also have a Matcha-flavored ramen!

Enjoying my desserts while listening to some Japanese songs of my favorite Japanese Voice Actor, Daisuke Hirakawa!

I am going to update this post once I have a chance to go back at that place to try more of their menu offerings. For now, I must say that indeed, Kissako Uji Matcha Café is a place to go for Matcha lovers like me. If you are looking for a place to enjoy more Matcha dishes and desserts, I recommend this place for you to try!
