Review: Tomahawk Chops and Grill

When west meets East Capitol Drive’s Tomahawk Chops and Grill, your American comfort food cravings will definitely become satisfied as they served mouth-watering dishes from Chicken Wings to their specialty: Grilled Tomahawk Chops. Together with fellow foodies, we had a chance to try Tomahawk’s delicious food offerings.

The Place

Tomahawk Chops and Grill is located at East Capitol Drive, Kapitolyo, Pasig City. A 2-storey restaurant which will give you a western feel because of its interiors. Though the whole place is quite small compared to other places around but will assure you to have a very comfortable dining experience.

The whole concept of Tomahawk at first is to be a Mexican Restaurant. But after some research within the area, they decided to serve western food – specifically American dishes and now they are on their way to their 2^nd year in the business.

The Food

Dishes served here at Tomahawk are American Comfort Food. Tomahawk has been known for serving different varieties of Chicken Wings in a very affordable price. Here are some of the dishes available at Tomahawk Chops and Grill:

Chili Cheese Fries

Chili Cheese Fries – Don’t fret as this appetizer is not as spicy as you might think. It has a large cut of fries on which fries lovers (like me) will definitely love. Though I can’t taste the cheese that much, I still love to grab the whole plate and eat plenty of this.

Wings – It comes in 3 varieties: Buffalo, Swings and Cheesy Jalapeno. My most favorite of them all is the Buffalo wings because of its very distinct flavor. If you happened to visit Tomahawk, I would recommend trying their Buffalo wings.

Johnny Rockets

Johnny Rockets – Hello to all potato lovers out there because this dish is perfect for you! Enjoy this large size Johnny Rockets: a soft potato covered with very crispy batter and wrapped with some bacon and comes with mustard sauce. One piece of this dish literally made my stomach full but it’s actually worth it.

Smoky Shrimp Creole

Smoky Shrimp Creole – I know that this dish will have a better improvement. For me, I actually tasted the shrimp alone. The shrimp is big but the flavor of the whole dish is quite missing (I was looking for the smoky flavor which I really had a hard time looking for its taste but there’s none).

Grilled Rosemary Chicken

Grilled Rosemary Chicken – I really appreciate this dish because the flavor of the Rosemary really stands out. Compared to the Rosemary Chicken I’ve tasted before from other restaurants on which I actually don’t know if they really put some Rosemary herbs on the dish. The sauce is flavorful.

Pulled Pork Waffle-wich

Pulled Pork Waffle-wich – Who would have thought that this dish will be this delicious? It made me say the quote “looks can be deceiving” because I thought it’s just a plain dish. With shredded pork on top of waffle, this dish is delicious. The flavor of the pork is very tasty plus the thickness of the waffle is just enough for the whole dish.

Grilled Tomahawk Chops

Grilled Tomahawk Chops – served with mushrooms on the sides plus dirty rice, this dish is Tomahawk’s specialty. The grilled aroma and flavor is very distinct plus its dirty rice partner makes it more delicious.

Wookie

Wookie – a combination of waffle plus cookie topped with vanilla ice cream. This is very yummy! I like that little crunchiness as you bite and it’s a great match with the ice cream.

Sweet Pink Guava, Cucumber Cooler and Peach Iced Tea

Drinks – they have 3 special drinks available: Peach Iced Tea, Sweet Pink Guava and Cucumber Cooler. If you want to try other drinks aside from Iced Tea, try their Sweet Pink Guava. The flavor is like a combination of guava and bubble gum. If your palette is looking for something refreshing, try their Cucumber Cooler.

The Price

Hands down, the prices of the dishes are very suitable to its size and taste. Almost all the dishes are perfect for sharing plus the serving size is quite big as well.
